Spectrum Management Bill Threatens Amateur Frequencies →

I knew it would only be a matter of time. Really, I want to just haul off and say, “Fuck you, FCC.” but I cannot bring myself to.

I do have to say that there are much wider, less used pieces of spectrum that they could use. I also have to question the intelligence of the congress people who suggested this bill not knowing that Amateur bands are already used for emergency management and are a fall back for when standard communication’s methods fail. In an all out disaster, most networks can’t hack it anyway.

Seeing that public safety departments just got a new 700 Mhz block, and narrow (and narrower) band requirements are on the horizon, I fail to see the need to go stealing (yes, I used that word) a band that is in use.

I would also speculate that these congress people were probably paid off to even suggest such a bill. That is all.
