All Racked Up
Has been a project long time in the works. I looked years ago into getting a server rack to put my equipment in, but at the time it was cost prohibitive. Along with some help from coworkers I was able to obtain and organize this server rack.

Most racks are designed to be bolted to the floor in data centers, or radio tower shelters. I had to cut a set of feet for the rack itself to be bolted to. It came in a nasty shade of gray, so it needed a fresh coating primer and paint, along with some sanding. If there is one thing I cannot stand, its priming, painting and sanding. Then don’t forget, it has to be painted again.

As of right now, I don’t have anything else I need to add to this. I used the cable management ties on the side to organize MOST of the cabling, which in itself is an art form. If you build data centers for a living, and organize the cables, I have a respect for you. It takes a little more planning than I thought.

This last shot shows the very top shelf, with my center channel speaker, FM antenna and IR receiver. To alleviate any questions later, YES that is Maria Sharapova. Also, this took around two full months to complete, with the painting and waiting for shelves to come in the mail. Overall, I am satisfied.
